Arakan State Government Condemns AI’s Statement on Unrest in the Region,

Sittwe: The Arakan State government has condemned Amnesty International’s statement published on 20 July, that was titled Myanmar: Abuses against Rohingyas erode human rights progress, on the violent unrest in Arakan State.

When asked why the Arakan State government rejected Amnesty International’s claims, the press secretary, U Win Myaing, told Narinjara that the report is just "baseless allegations” against his government and people in Arakan State.

"As a person taking responsibility for press in the Arakan State government, I, on behalf of my government, have objected and condemned Amnesty International’s report because we have found it is based on biased information and is just baseless allegations against our government and people in our region,” said U Win Myaing.

The statement said that the declaration of the state of emergency in Arakan State is "not a license to commit human rights violations.”

It also said the security forces are responsible to protect the rights of everyone from abuse by others without exception and discrimination, but claimed they have failed to do so and have targeted Rohingyas in most of the communal violence between Arakanese and Rohingyas.

It also alleged that Arakanese Buddhists and security forces have both committed human rights violations, such as physical abuse, rape, destruction of property, and unlawful killings of Rohingya and other Arakanese Muslims.

Benjamin Zawacki, Amnesty’s researcher on Burma, also made strong criticisms against the government and Buddhist Arakanese for the unrest in Arakan State as well.

Concerning claims made in the statement, U Win Myaing said as follows:

"The offenders are arrested and tried according to the laws, but there is no one who is being tortured or killed while they are being detained. What was mentioned in Amnesty International’s report is just biased information and baseless allegations,” said U Win Myaing.

He also claimed that since the "Bengalis Rohingya” are a majority and the ethnic Rakhine a minority in the areas of Buthidaung and Maungdaw, it should be considered how it could be possible for the minority Arakanese to attack those Rohingya and rape their women.

When asked for his opinion on the statement, U Oo Hla Saw, General Secretary of the Rakhine Nationalities Development Party said, "In fact, the Arakanese people know their situation best. The land of Arakan is now being encroached and the Arakanese people are being assaulted and still under threat of insecurity in their homeland. The international communities should study to know the problems the Arakanese are facing now in their home. And the organization that publicizes such report should also know that what they are writing is very far from reality. We at the RNDP know very well about the violent attacks that are currently occurring in our state. We are very sorry to know that the international organizations are voicing whatever they like without knowing the reality of what is now happening in our region,” said U Hla Saw.

He also added that those who publish such statements should try to find out the reality about the unrest occurring in the state.

"Over 30 Arakanese were killed and many Arakanese villages were burned down during the violent attacks and they are still suffering from so many losses. Amnesty International should ascertain who triggered those attacks. It should not publicize such statements without knowing the reality of those violent attacks. As a democratically supported political party, we the RNDP also want to make known to the world communities that we condemn Amnesty International for its biased and untrue report,” he said.

The Burma Democratic Concern based in Britain has also objected to the statement, calling it misleading and a fabrication in its open letter to Amnesty International.

The Burma Democratic Concern also suggested that the author, Benjamin Zawacki, should not believe in stories being "fabricated by the Bengali Rohingyas”, and should seek "genuine facts” about what is happening in Arakan State before writing such a report.

WAO-GLOBAL-06-11-12- Worldwide Arakanese and Burmese community are collecting relief fund to assist Arakanese victims who have attacked by illegal Bengali immigrants terrorist in Moungtaw Township since June, 8, 2012.

Report source said at least over one hundred people were inhumanly killed, seven wear wounded and Twenty Three villages were bunt by terrorist attack. Nineteen shops and one Guest house also were set on fire. Witness s source said that the kids were grappled and threw into fire to kill by Bengali terrorist.

Nearly 10,000 Arakanese victims need the emergency assistance such as foods, pure waters and Medicare. Local authorities set up arrangement for five Reliefs Centre in Maungtaw Township and Buthithoung Township. Additional Relief Centers also open in Rathay Toung and Akyab (Sittwey).

1) Security Battalion (2) Relief Centre- over 3,000 Refugees, Moungtaw

2) Aung Myae Bodhi Monastery Relif Centre- over 557 Refugees, Moungtaw

4) Baho Monastry Relief Centre- over 100 Refugees, Moungtaw

5) Middle School Relief Centre- over 1,000 Refugees, Buthitoung

WAO has received all sadness information about "Arakan Under the terrorist attack” from Medias including search Myanmar.com. However, some Media has written and published against the real facts as abuse of information ethnic. They have posted confusing, controversial and false information based in bribe. On June 9, 2012, World Arakanese Organization (WAO) invited and successfully held the teleconference as emergency has made decision to collect donation and released statement regarding Arakanese people concerns. Arakanese in around the World are collecting the emergency donation to victims who are treated and attacked by illegal Bengali terrorist. Rohingya Problem

Bangladesh migrated to Myanmar (Burma) illegally by just crossing the porous border by all methods because of population explosion in Former East Pakistan, now Bangladesh.

They have never been an original ethnic group of Myanmar (Burma) according to our history as well as international history. They are from Bangladesh and should be named as Bangladeshi Bengali but definitely not the Rohingya. They have created the term "Rohingya' which has a meaning "the natives Arakan" in Bengali language Chittagaung dialect (Rohan = Arakan and "Gya" or "Ja" means "Native").

That's why the real Arakanese (Rakhaings) and Burmese cannot accept that term. As we mentioned earlier, there has never been such an ethnic group in Burmese and also in Indo-Pakistani history.

The other fact is that those Bengali people (So called Rohingya) have the connection with the Terrorists such as Taliban, Religious Extremists and Islamist Militants which was revealed by Wikileaks. Besides, those so called Rohingyas are also involving in human trafficking.

Don’t you wonder sometimes, that the information we are being fed on daily basis can be untrue entirely or exaggerated to the point where it loses all its truth? PHOTO: REUTERS

Social networking sites are abuzz with news about Muslims being killed in Burma.You can see the sporadic posting of pictures by different people with captions like ‘Muslims killing in Burma’, ‘Muslims slaughtered by Buddhists in Burma’ and so on.

Thus, I took on the mission to sort the truth out for myself once and for all and researched some pictures that I felt were dubious. Below are a few pictures and their original copies. You can evidently see the gross difference between them and how they are thrown out of context.

This was a picture shared on Facebook.

I have found the original version which reads differently to the the one posted on the social networking site.

This picture was taken in 2010 after an earthquake in China and captures the efforts put in by the Tibetans to help rescue the victims. Now, Islamic political parties and some other elements are sharing this image as Muslim killing and their slaughter in Burma.

Another widely circulated picture captioned "More then 1,000 people killed in Burma” is also fake.

The original, as you can see below, is taken in Thailand in the year 2004. This picture shows protesters that were tear-gassed outside the Tal Bai police station in Bangkok. This is roughly 1,409.9 km away from Burma! What is grossly negligent about these photos is the factual ignorance of the hate these misleading photos can culminate.

Below, please find another image which was posted online, this time with an imprint of Jamaat-e-Islami on the top left . It reads ‘Terrorists of Budhism of Burma kills 500 Muslims’.

As you can guess, this is also a fabricated picture.

In reality, this image belongs to a Human Rights violation incident by the Thai authorities against the Rohingya ethnic minority of Burma. These refugees were detained for a few weeks and then sent off drifting into the sea.

Here is another instance of such fallacy spreading across the social media sites regarding the massacre of Muslims in Burma.

This picture is extremely misleading considering that the original image was about the riots in Thailand that took place in 2003!

Now, take a look at the image below and observe how it is blown out of context.

Now, view the original.

The original picture is not even remotely close to what the picture above states. In fact, a Tibetan protester had set himself on fire in protest prior to the arrival of Chinese president Hu Jintao and that too in Delhi.

I do not deny the killings of Muslims in Burma – not even for a minute.

I think it is horrific and I am sympathetic towards the immense loss being suffered by my Muslim brothers and sisters abroad.

What I am against is being lied to.

Imagine the amount of lies we are being fed through these pictures. How can one trust any image online if such drastic manipulation and editing is being done to cater to someone’s political or personal agenda?

Social media and networking sites, if used properly, can be an impressive tool in spreading awareness amongst its users, but it can be an equally dangerous median as well if misused.

These images are false and are only igniting hatred and prejudice in our youth.

We need to become more vigilant and aware of the credibility and authenticity of pictures we browse through. It only takes one wrong image to push us over the edge towards extremism.

3 motorboats from Bangladesh with arms found in Myanmar Sea, 2 escaped

15 Jul 2012, Maungdaw _ As 3 suspicious motorboats approached beach near the village of Taung Ywar, the patrol unit of Maungdaw police force pursued them. When the police patrol unit failed to pursue them, the Myanmar’s navy came in and managed to arrest one of these three motorboats.

Upon interrogating the crews of that motorboat, 8 Bangladesh citizens were arrested with M-16 guns. In the shootout upon pursuing, 3 Bangladeshi got injuries at heads and thus was sent to Sittwe General Hospital while the rest were sent to Sittwe jail at 4:30pm this evening.

The international media groups have been unfair to Myanmar and to the Rakkhine victims of the Rohingya attack.
It is obvious that the Rohingyas are the attackers.
Why would the majority Rakkhine leave their homes, and get their properties torched if they were the attackers?

We(Myanmar Citizens) would like to ask the international entities who speak up for Rohingyas. Who would speak up for the Rakkhines whose homes were ablazed? Who would seek justice for the Rakkhines who were brutally murdered by the Rohingyas during the Arakan massacred? You suggested the government of Myanmar of accept the Rohingyas. Were you there when the Rohingyas raped our women? Were you there when they splashed kerosene at our homes and burnt them down? Were you there when they brutally murder our people?

Get up and set your foot on our Arakan land. Hear our cries. Feel our sorrow. Touch our tears. Touch our blood. See the carcasses. See the faces. It is for real. None of these are fabricated nor manipulated. The victims are the Rakkhines, the innocent villagers who were killed by the Rohingya terrorists. Why did Rohingyas kill the villagers? The answer is simple. It is because Rohingyas are not one of us, not one of the ethnic group of Myanmar.
In fact, they are terrorists!

Bengali Terroists Burnt Rakhine Villages

Bengali terrorists burnt down 17 villages in Maung Taw, Rakhine state of Myanmar.
It was based on the issue where three Bengalis raped and inhumanely killed[my] a Rakhine girl on 28th May, 2012. 5 days later, 8 Muslims were killed[my] in a bus attack by vigilantes. Such disputes led to be hot issues among netizens online. Some were frustrated, some warned to prevent religious disputes and others stay quiet. Most of the public pointed out the Bengali immigrants that has been threatening the local Rakhines.
For the moment on 8th June, 2012, unconfirmed reports said[my] 100 of innocent Rakhine were killed and many injured[violent graphics] and villages were put on fire. Terrorists were believed to prepare for this systematically. Locals mentioned that once they finished Friday service in mosque, a crowd of hundreds Bengalis put the villages on fire. Local Rakhines had to leave the houses and gather at the Buddhist monasteries.

Myanmar Government sent armed forces to settle the vigilantes’ actions but according to Netizens, the situation is not still under control. About 5 hours later, government announced martial law in Maung Taw with immediate effect.

Netizens expressed their anger to Bengali immigrants who claimed themselves as Rohingyas and corruption among immigration officers. 88 Generation Leaders* announced[my] that Rohingya has never been and will never be an ethnic of Myanmar and agreed to cooperate with army and the government to protect innocent Rakhine people.

How Anti Rohingya Bengali Islamic Extremist Terrorists Campaigns Started We have all kind of religions in Burma. There is no religious war as far as I am concern. The fact is that Rohingya are illegal immigrants and they are asking for the ethnic rights which we cannot give. Even to be the citizen, we cannot give away Burmese citizenship easily or cheaply to everyone whoever enter into Burma illegally. Rohingya Bengalis enter into Burma illegally while Burmese Democrats and ethnic alike are busy fighting with military regime. Rohingya Bengalis wanted to have northern Arakan, Burma as the Islamic state ruling with Sharia Islamic laws. Rohingyas Bengalis are trained and supported by Islamic Extremist Terrorists including Taliban. Rohingya are taking shelter under mask of refugees and religion. They are making-up the fake the stories for ages appealing the international community by saying that their human rights are violated. Since the military regime is on the other hand notorious for so long for its track records of human rights violation on ethnics groups like Kachin and Karen, etc. At the other hand, Burmese and activists have been keeping silent on Rohingya lies histories with the mind-set of “enemy of enemy is our friend”.They have the perception of it will be set-back if they voice out against lies Rohinga stories. But, behind the curtain all the democrats and ethnic leaders have common position that they don’t recognise Rohingya as the original indigenous ethnic people of Burma. They agree on the fact that we all will sort out the Rohingya problems when the time is appropriate such as when democracy restored in Burma. For the Burmese community in exile, all the Burmese people NEVER ever accept ROHINGYA as part of Burma ethnic people or part of Burma. For the people inside Burma they always see Rohingya Bengali Muslims as the illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and it is in fact right. Addition, Burmese leaders always keep quiet about Rohingya problem which in fact watering the Rohingya problem to grow. We are now officially declared to the world that we never accept Rohingya as part of Burma. Exile media also play their parts fanning the Rohingya flame from the spark to full grown terrorists. Some so-called campaigning groups who self-proclaimed themselves working for Burma are in fact making Rohingya problem bigger since they care only about money and they are doing everything to get money. The issue is long overdue to be resolved. But so-called leaders cowardly avoid taking the responsibility but passing this Rohingya problem fire-ball for the next generation. This is how anti Rohingya Bengali campaigns started and has long been for decades.
